Governor Maggie Hassan appointed and the Executive Council confirmed Michele for her first four-year term on the state’s Water Council on February 11, 2016. Michele is the first New Hampshire citizen to be appointed to this new seat on the Council. In addition to local civic involvement, she serves at the state level on the Rivers Management Advisory Committee as vice-chair and chair of its Policy and Legislation Subcommittee, Public Water Access Advisory Board, Exotic Aquatic Weeks and Species [legislative] Committee. Michele recently completed a term of several years on the state’s Shoreland Advisory Committee, which filed its final report at the end of 2016. She is the principal of naturesource communications, a consulting firm serving nonprofit and grassroots organizations and municipal, state, and regional governments.

The Jordan Institute has contracted with Michele L. Tremblay, principal,  naturesource communications to develop its organization’s website along with project sub-sites for the NH Comparative Risk Project and the Minimum Impact Development Project.
Michele L. Tremblay will work with The Jordan Institute, the NH Comparative Risk Project, and the Minimum Impact Development Project to create a website that links the organization and its projects, directing visitors through the progression of its work.

The Massachusetts Water Watch Partnership and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs have invited Michele L. Tremblay, principal, naturesource communications to present “Guerrilla Fundraising for Sustainable Volunteer Organizations” at the Clean Water Conference on November 4, 2000 in Gardner, Massachusetts. 
One of the sister presentations to “Guerrilla Outreach Tactics for Volunteer Monitoring Programs,” and “Guerrilla Volunteer Recruitment.” this workshop will present real-life examples of fundraising tactics and offer suggestions that groups can use right away to add sustainability and growth to their organizations’ support and programs. Michele will also co-present with Marie-Françoise Walk,“How Are You Using your Data?” which will Discuss ways in which participants have put their monitoring results to use, what successes, and challenges they have experienced.

August 10, 2000  •  Dover, NH
The Cocheco River Watershed Coalition and the Strafford County University of NH Cooperative Extension Office have contracted with Michele L. Tremblay, principal, naturesource communications to conduct a focus group, draft a communications strategy for the Coalition, and design a brochure for their September 16 river clean-up.
Michele will facilitate a focus group comprised of diverse stakeholders from throughout the Cocheco River watershed and draft a communication strategy as part of the Coalition’s River Network Watershed Assistance Grant. A brochure will also be developed to advertise and solicit volunteers for a river clean-up.

Michele L. Tremblay, principal, naturesource communications  and Upper Merrimack Monitoring Program Program Director, and Stephen C. Landry, Upper Merrimack Monitoring Program Program Sampling Supervisor have been invited to present “Macroinvertebrates, Charisma and Science—Together at Last” at the 2000 New Hampshire Lakes Conference on Saturday, June 17, 2000.
After conducting this workshop at the 1999 Lakes Congress, Steve and Michele have been invited back. This year, the interactive workshop will be held on a small stream in the Squam Lakes region. The workshop will introduce volunteers to stream ecology and the importance of aquatic life to the watershed of its lakes, streams, and wetlands.

Michele L. Tremblay, Program Director for the Upper Merrimack Monitoring Program and principal, naturesource communications has been selected to present at the Sixth National Volunteer Monitoring Conference, “Moving into the Mainstream,” in Austin, Texas. 
Michele will present “Guerrilla Outreach Tactics for Volunteer Monitoring Programs” The conference will be held at the Clarion Suites Hotel from April 26-29. The interactive workshop gives real-life examples of outreach materials and programs. One of the sister presentations to “Guerrilla Recruitment for Volunteer Programs,” and “Guerrilla Fundraising for Sustainable Volunteer Organizations.” The audience and  effectiveness of the examples will be discussed. A media representative will also be available to answer questions about press releases and effective media relations.

The Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment invited Michele L. Tremblay, principal, naturesource communications, to moderate their forum: “The Health of the Gulf of Maine: Current Conditions, Future Needs—A Range of Perspectives” on December 10, 1999.
The panel included NH Senator Beverly Hollingworth; David Keeley, Maine Office of State Planning and charter Gulf of Maine Council Working Group Member; and Jessie Davies, New Brunswick Nature Trust, Director of Environment and Sustainable Development Research Centre at the University of New Brunswick.

February 1, 2000  •  Concord, NH
Michele L. Tremblay, principal, naturesource communications  has been retained to design and maintain “Special Places,” the website of the Citizens for NH Land and Community Heritage.
The site will be used to post information crucial to the passage of Senate Bill 401 to create and fund a permanent public-private partnership to protect New Hampshire’s natural, historical, and cultural resources.

Marie Françoise Walk and Jerry Schoen of the Massachusetts Water Watch Partnership, working with Michele L. Tremblay, principal, naturesource communications , have completed a data presentation manual entitled Ready, Set, Present! a data presentation manual for volunteer water quality monitoring groups.
The first-of-its kind manual guides volunteer and other volunteer monitoring groups through the most effective data presentation planning and techniques for public testimony, media, fairs, and conferences along with information on simple, inexpensive, and effective graphics. Although written for water quality monitoring groups, the information can be applied for use by any grassroots organization. The manual is available through the Massachusetts Water Watch Partnership for $5 or can be downloaded as Adobe® Acrobat® documents through their website.

Michele L. Tremblay, principal, naturesource communications and Upper Merrimack Monitoring Program Program director, and Stephen C. Landry, Upper Merrimack Monitoring Program Program Sampling Supervisor presented a workshop at the NH Rivers Management & Protection Program/Volunteer Rivers Assessment Program Conference.
Steve and Michele presented “All in the Family,” an interactive identification training session. The nearly 40 attendees were introduced to identification at the family level of benthic macroinvertebrates. At that time, the Upper Merrimack Monitoring Program’s newly published Macroinvertebrates of the Upper Merrimack, an annotated picture key, by Stephen C. Landry and Michele L. Tremblay, was introduced and used by volunteers for the first time.

October 30, 1999 • Boscawen, NH
Michele L. Tremblay, principal, naturesource communications is completing an extended contract with the River Watch Program of River Network (formerly River Watch Network).
Michele was contracted by River Watch Network to provide data management, research, facilitation, and writing services. She is working with Geoff Dates and Steve Dickens to complete a set of findings and recommendations on the status of volunteer monitoring efforts along with service providers and data users for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs. In early 2000, a series of meetings will be held to present the draft report and solicit comments.

August 9, 1999  •  Concord, NH
Michele L. Tremblay, principal, naturesource communications is working with two new clients.
She has accepted the contract position of Program Manager for the Gulf of Maine Council and will be managing the implementation of “Sustaining and Improving the Gulf of Maine Ecosystem Through Cooperative Efforts: Work Plan 7/1/99 – 12/31/00,” administering grants and publicizing results, and serving as the primary point of contact for work plan implementation and acting as liaison with US Senate office.

Michele is also filling the staffing needs of the New Hampshire Republicans for Responsible Conservation. Her contract includes working with the advisory board to meet with major Republican presidential candidates and bring to their agendas important conservation issues and publicize the results to educate voters during the NH primary election.
